Mummy, on the Subject of Sex by Stuti Chandra
by Stuti Chandra
She laughs when I ask her
A surreptitious giggle, as if
she stumbled upon a hindi
slang in an english poem.
Why don’t you speak on
the subject of sex, teach me
Or maybe she thinks I know or
the shock won’t be strong to kill me,
not strong, like the sheesham bed,
a place of makings.
Stuti Chandra had done her Masters in English Literature from Delhi university. She currently writes stories for children’s books. She loves conversational, unadorned poetry. Her poems and stories have been published by The Indian Review, Writer’s Asylum and Damn You.
