The Devil That Prevents Me From Attending Classes
Preface
I had missed our “Magic and Science” class on Monday (19/01/15). Although I have claimed to be a serial bunker in the past, once I shifted my majors I had transformed myself into a sincere student. This meant that there was no scope for missing classes since she, our rather strict and possibly the best professor there was, expected us to be regular. And so I was instilled with immense fear when random people I had never seen in my life came to me and claimed that “Anannya Ma’am is so going to kill you, you better start digging your grave”. I wrote this note in the hope that this will lighten the mood.
A Great, and long suspicion was held of this person to be a serial bunker, and the eye of his faculty, who dwelt at the academic block, by the information from their fellow teachers had confirmed it. This Trial, though it was slight and ridiculous, hopefully settled a resolution among those concerned. They found out by all means that he could maintain his bunking through his deal with his own devil and now that his purpose was over was left alone in a state of sickly condition with markers in his body as follows.
1) Pale skin and fatigue from all the puking (I was actually sick).
2) His body was crooked and showed signs of blood loss from the fear of facing his faculty.
A true account of the confession of Gokulnath Govindan (student) after his conviction of Bunking, taken on Monday the 19. Day of January, Anno 2015 in the Gaole of Academic block, where he is a student, then in the presence of diverse people, whose names to verify the same are here subscribed to this ensuing confession, made unto me Dr. Anannya Dasgupta, The best TEACHER in Shiv Nadar University. In Dialogue manner are here expressed the classes that he bunked.
Question
BY what means came you to have acquaintance with the Devil, and when was the first time that you saw him, and how did you know that it was the Devil?
Answer
I came into contact with the bunking devil on the month of August, 2011. He had lurked in my room shrouded by invisibility of a kind wherein only I could see him. He made his presence felt again and again but came in front of me directly when he found me cursing, swearing and blaspheming about the morning classes. He promised me with the illusion of sleep and convinced me to bunk all my classes in return for nothing. It is only later that I found that it cost a heavy star. Later On after my shift to English, I attempted to break this pact of bunking by attending classes but he constantly threatened me to start bunking. It is only then that I realised he is the devil.
Question
Of what Hindus and Asuras, and how many were the number that you were the cause of bunking, and what moved you to this bunking?
Answer
I have bunked a countless number of classes and I was moved on to it by the devil.
Question
In what shape would the Devil come onto you?
Answer
The Devil came to meet me in the shape of sleeping roommates or sleeping floor mates but most of all it came in my own shape. He would look so much like me that it baffled me. It is only till later that I realised that it was my own private devil and hence his similarity with my physical appearance
Question
What happened on the Monday that is the 17th of January 2015?
Answer
By this time I was in a full on war against my devil. He knew he would lose to the supercool lectures of “Magic and Science” and since he could not force me to bunk it, he used a final trump card to make me sick before his final departure. I was left puking and before I could explain I was brought here.
Question
What makes you so sure that this is his last visit?
Answer
I know of all his tricks. Now that I have dealt with this meeting, I shall not be fooled again.
Question
Is this an attempt to escape the act of punishment?
Answer
I would be lying if I were to say no. But I understand that that is not possible hence I request you to considerate only my health and nothing else while you decide on your verdict.
Apart from bunking lectures and making excuses, Gokul spends an awful lot of time writing or making up stories. All these skills are something he has gathered, thanks to the engineering department of my college. He had joined Shiv Nadar University in order to pursue Mechanical Engineering, but two and a half years of passionless learning had only helped him in engineering stories. Once he realised that this could be my bread and butter, he jumped out of his lab suit and took up a pen instead.
