The Nature of White — Yo Bobby Jindal Yo!
by RK Biswas

The nature of white has little
to do with colour. It is after all just
a condition, a way of life,
a mental disposition. A status
that draws small lineage from education.
Everyone wants to be white.
Fair enough. Not just through creams
and bleaches and the like,
though quite often that is
the very first step. The first attempt
at a leg-up here, in this ever-brown land,
this ancestral port of departure
for countless hopefuls. Some, I dare say, must regret
that their skins didn’t shed.
Everyone wants to move up
the food chain. There is nothing in that. It’s just
nature’s way. Understandable. Forgivable. Yet,
no one wants to bell
the cat. No one
wants to come out and say, “Hey!
When I fight for my rights,
I really fight to be white.”
