Vinod Kumar Shukla Reading “Vah Aadmi Chala Gaya Garam Coat Pehankar Vichar Ki Tarah”
Brilliant and criminally under-read Hindi poet Vinod Kumar Shukla was present at the Zee JLF 2015, and I attempted to capture his voice in my phone’s voice recorder. In a session with poet Arvind Krishna Mehrotra and translator Satti Khanna, among many other things, Shukla lent his voice to his brilliant poem from the 1960s “Vah Aadmi Chala Gaya Naya Garam Coat Pehankar Vichar Ki Tarah”, which literally translates to “That Man Walked Away Wearing Warm New Coat Like A Thought”.
